Olga Burova, director of the Social Perspectives Center, became the official national representative of Ukraine in WAPOR
“Now is the time when it is possible and necessary to raise awareness at the event about Ukrainian sociology, its researchers and the results of public opinion research, 2022 showed a high level of scientific enthusiasm, many conferences and round tables were held, we continue to conduct research. Our colleagues abroad give this a very high assessment, given the situation in which we all find ourselves. As the national representative of Ukraine in WAPOR, I will focus on disseminating reliable data on Ukrainian sociology, finding opportunities for research projects of national importance and professional assistance to colleagues.” Burova Olga.
ABOUT US
The Center for Public Information Technologies “Social Perspectives” was founded in 1997 as a public non-profit organization with the aim of promoting the formation of civil society, strengthening the statehood of Ukraine and its international prestige. One of the areas of Centre's work is establishing public, democratic ties between public opinion, the media and government structures.
Since 2020, the younger generation of Ukrainian sociologists has become in charge of the Center. Among other priority areas of the Center's activities are: promoting the European integration of Ukraine, as well as developing innovative technologies for studying public opinion.
The Center's specialists have extensive experience in international cooperation, sociological surveys and have a wide range of activities and interests.
ACTIVITIES
The main activities of the Center are:
• organizing and holding conferences, seminars, round tables on topical issues of concern to the Ukrainian society;
• organizing and conducting of election campaigns;
• conducting nationwide and regional sociological surveys (public opinion polls, content analysis, focus groups);
• studying political practices and orientations of different segments of population;
• public examination of the activities of social institutions and enterprises;
• organizing effective and democratic interaction between business, the media and government authorities;
• image making development and implementation of state, non-governmental, public organizations, Ukrainian or foreign enterprises working in Ukraine;
• informing the society, mass media, business, executive and legislative authorities about urgent problems of society and specific means (mechanisms) for their solution.
OUR EXPERIENCE
- The project "Social, economic and medico-psychological consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic in Ukraine: monitoring of mass moods and needs" was implemented (together with the Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, 2020)
- The project "Political culture of Ukrainian society: development trends in the face of the latest challenges" was implemented (together with the Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, 2018-2019)
- Project "Psychological distress of the Ukrainian society: factors and prevalence" was implemented (together with the Institute of
Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, 2017-2018)
- Experts of the center took part in international project within the framework of the programs of the Erasmus Foundation and the University of Bedfordshire Luton, England. (2016-2017)
- The round table was held on the basis of the Institute of Sociology of the NAS of Ukraine, with the participation of Dr. Sharapov (England) on the topics: "Cultural specifics of international research “and "NVIVO program for qualitative research. (2016)
- A nationwide poll was carried out on the problem of gas supply to the state and the activities of Naftogaz of Ukraine (2007);
- comprehensive sociological survey: "The influence of mobile communications on the behavioral norms of the Ukrainian society" on request of the Kievstar and SPN Ogilvy PR companies was carried out (May 2007);
- In 2006, the Center completed the implementation of the multi-year project "Ukrainian society at the turn of the XXI century (social portrait of the population of Ukraine)" on demand of the State Fund for Basic Research;
- An expert survey was conducted within the framework of the development of the Concept of Image Policy of "Naftogaz of Ukraine" (2006);
- An international conference "Scientific knowledge and power: contradictory relationships between sociological research and political practice" was held (2005);
- Project "Business in Ukraine in the context of theory and practice of social responsibility" was implemented;
- A survey "Social and psychological indicators of management in the context of new economic conditions" was carried out on demand of the Alchevsk Coke-Chemical Plant;
- Round table "Privatization processes in Ukraine: assessments and positions of citizens" was organized and a brochure of the same name was published (1999.)
- Research project "Attitude of the Ukrainian population to privatization processes" was implemented. (1997-1998);

OUR EXPERTS
Director:
Olga Burova,Ph.D. in sociology, Senior Researcher at the Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, translator and interpreter. Fields of research interests: socio-political and social changes in Ukraine, individual well-being, health and urbanization studies. She is the author of the monograph "Vital comfort of the population of Ukraine under urbanization: sociological analysis".
She has experience in international projects and in organizing international round tables, conducting sociological surveys. She completed an internship in the UK under the Erasmus + program (20016-2017).
She has certificates: British Council "Researcher connect" communication skills for researchers, American councils "Writing with Academic Integrity: keys to success", TESOL certificate from global language training. (2016-2018)
Deputy Director:
Dembitskiy Sergey, doctor of Sociological Sciences, Leading Researcher at the Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Since 2020 the head of annual sociological survey: "Ukrainian Society", Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Scientific Journal "Sociology: Theory, Methods, Marketing".
Fields of research interests: sociological research methodology, problems of political culture and individual well-being of the population of Ukraine. He is the author of three monographs, over seventy scientific articles, eight sociological tests. He has experience in managing scientific projects, organizing sociological survey and conducting round tables. He completed internship at Michigan (2016, USA) and Bedfordshire (2017, UK) universities.
Expert:
Kondratenko Alexey, Ph.D. in Public Administration. Research interests: social economic development and development of the social humanitarian sphere, public administration and public policy.
He has more than 15 years of experience in the field of public social protection, including his job in the Ministry of Social Policy - as leading specialist and the head of department (2007-2016), in the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine – as an advisor to the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine (2016-2017) and Deputy Head of the Office of the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine (2017-2019).
Member of the Commission for Implementation of Programs Supported by the Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria of the National Council on Tuberculosis and HIV / AIDS.
Founder of the center and director’s advisor on general issues:
Burov Igor, Ph.D., deputy Director of the Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
He has extensive experience in research work, in conducting surveys, in creating tools and questionnaires design, in training interviewers. He participated in projects with the Renaissance Foundation, and completed internships in the USA under the USAID Foundation program.
